H.E. Burke work history: Special field agent in codling moth investigations, July 1-September 30, 1902; special field agent, assistant forest expert, temporary field agent, expert and agent, entomological assistant, assistant in forest entomology, specialist in forest entomology, associate entomologist, entomologist, and senior entomologist in Forest Insect Investigations [Bureau of Entomology] from October 1, 1902 to June 30, 1932. In charge of forest insect investigations in Pacific States 1903-1907; specialist in flathead borers 1907-1910; in charge of northeastern Oregon bark beetle control project 1910-1911; in charge of Forest Insect Station 5 1911-1913; in charge of Pacific Slope Station 1913-1916; in charges of shade tree insect laboratory at Los Gatos, California, and Stanford University 1916-1925; forest insect investigations in national parks 1925-1930; shade tree insects 1930-1932; shade tree insects in Division of Fruit and Shade Tree Insects 1932-1934; retired without prejudice June 30, 1934. Author of numerous papers on flathead borers, forest insects, shade tree insects, and co-author of the book "Forest Insects" in the American Forestry Series.
