Deutsch: Links (heraldisch rechts) ist das sächsische Wappen zu sehen, in der rechten (heraldisch linken) Hälfte ist ein Otter als sprechendes Symbol für die Stadt Otterndorf dargestellt.
Plattdüütsch: Op de linke Siet (heraldisch rechts) is dat ole Wapen vun de Hartöög vun Sassen to sehn, rechts (heraldisch links) en Otter as Symbol, dat för den Naam vun de Stadt steiht.
English: The left (dexter) part represents the coat of arms of old Saxony. The right (sinister) side shows the otter as a symbol of the town of Otterndorf.
