Descriere fișier

Descriere
English: Maria Czaplicka, Polish anthropologist, 1919
Dată
Sursă "Women’s Influence in Science: British Association Speakers" (30 August 1919). London: Illustrated London News. p. 312 Subscription required: Gale Document Number HN3100238161
Autor Banner across the top of the page indicates “Photographs by Nicoll, Wayland, Swaine, Palmer Clark and Foscall” with no other identifying data. Unable to ascertain who took specific images after searching web, newspaper archives, book archives, etc. According to the Photographers of Great Britain and Ireland 1840 and 1940 site, there were two photographers operating in that century with the surname Nicoll, David and Leonard G. and a firm Nicoll Process Ltd. A search gives no further information on any of them. A search of the site for Wayland shows a Douglas/David, Henry, W. and a firm Wayland & Co. A search gives no information on any of them save Henry (1859-1922). A search of the site for Swaine shows Arthur, Ernest H., Frank Arthur, George E., and Thomas P. The only two who yielded further information in a search were Frank Arthur (died 1952) and George E. (died 1920) (It is possible more information on this photographic family could be ascertained from Swain, Graeme House Press A Family History of Photography: The Swains, a Photographic Dynasty ISBN: 978-1-909465-52-7. [dead link], but am unable to access the book. A search of the site for Palmer Clarke, yields J./John (1854-? closed his business in 1934). Foscall does not appear in the site, nor were any searches able to confirm who this might be.
