Theatre World Award

Theatre World Award este un premiu american de teatru prezentat anual actrițelor și actorilor din zona metropolitană a New York City pentru performanțele de debut teatral, fie de pe Broadway ori din orice alt teatru, altul decât unul de pe celebrul bulevard al teatrelor (a se vedea, en teatru de pe Broadway).

A fost acordat prima oară pentru sesiunea teatrală 1945 – 1946.

Istoric modificare

Printre primii premiați se numărau și Betty Comden, Judy Holliday și John Raitt. Câștigătorii au fost constant selectați de către un grup de critici de teatru new-york-ezi.

În mai 2015, juriul curent fusese format din următorii critici de teatru: Roma Torre (NY1), David Cote (Time Out New York, NY1), Joe Dziemianowicz (New York Daily News), Peter Filichia (The Newark Star-Ledger, Emeritus), Harry Haun (Playbill), Matthew Murray (TalkinBroadway.com) și Frank Scheck (New York Post). John Willis, fondatorul distincției Theatre World Awards și editorul compendiului Theatre World, a decedat în iunie 2010.

Statueta premiului modificare

Cunoscută ca Ianus, după zeul roman al intrărilor, ieșirilor și tuturor începuturilor, premiul constă dintr-o statuetă de bronz, al cărui design aparține sculptorului american Harry Marinsky.[4]
