Am adaugat legatura INTERNA la wikipedia FR pentry ca la Wikipedia Ro articol cu privire Toma T. SOcolescu este gol!! Nu est vandalism!! Si informatie (in acest articol) cu Toma Socolescu este gresita. Nu exist Toma Socolescu. Doar Toma N. Socolescu sau Toma T. Socolescu. Yes I do understand what you did technically, but is it the right way to do it? Perhaps should it be better to use relative value (as % of size) so that the image size is not fixed whatever is the screen size of the user...

The article is supposed to be displayed on mobile phones, tablets, wide screen displays and even web content readers for the blind. The structure of the page may be different and the image may not convey the same information in all these contexts if we force it into a width that is a percentage of the screen. For instance, a 400px wide image displayed on 50% of a 1600px wide screen will look chunky with big ugly square pixels; another image that will occupy 10% of a small smartphone display will be too tiny to understand anything. So we try to estimate a decent width at which all the necessary information is visible to any reader, at a decent quality (with higher resolution version, if any, available on click). The text is far easier to scale around an image. Another reason is that this allows us to generate thumbnails beforehand and deliver them to the user, thus speeding up response time (if the size of the image depended on the user's display, then we would be forced either to generate thumbnails on the spot at every display or to maintain a huge thumbnail cache, thus consuming system resources that can otherwise be put to better use) and saving bandwidth (it would be embarassing if a page took a second to load on a normal desktop, and fifteen minutes on another machine with a wider screen in the same network). —Andrei^discuţie 25 octombrie 2011 13:07 (EEST)
